Our Board


Whitney, was born in Tallahassee, Florida, she attended Lawton Chiles High School. After graduation, she enrolled at Florida Atlantic University, where she instantly became involved. While at FAU, Whitney was a sister and former President of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, participated in Dance Marathon, and was involved with the Circle K Club. Whitney graduated Florida Atlantic in 2007 with a B.A. in Marketing and Communications and previously worked for FAU in their Communications Department as the communication officer.

Whitney and Chris met at Florida Atlantic University and exchanged vows in 2012 alongside some of their closest FAU friends in Islamorada, FL. Whitney, Chris, and their dog Winston currently reside in sunny Tavernier, FL.


Veronica J. Paez has been an active member of the Florida Atlantic University community for more than a decade. Veronica graduated in 2007 from FAU with a Bachelor’s Degree and obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from the FAU’s Executive Education program in 2014.

Veronica was an active student at FAU serving as a Student Body Senator, the President of the Association of Latin American Students and the Director of Cultural Diversity in the FAU Student Government Association in 2003 and 2004. In the capacity of Director of Cultural Diversity, Veronica was responsible for organizing and overseeing several marquee cultural events on all FAU campuses. 

As a Master’s student at FAU, Veronica was recognized for the “Best Paper in Master's Students - International Business Research Track” by the Academy of International Business and was inducted into the Delta Epsilon Iota academic honor society.

Veronica previously served as a Compliance Manager and Project Manager at Corporate Creations International, a leading provider of registered agent and compliance services nationwide for Fortune 1000 companies, Global 2000 companies, and private companies. 

Currently, Veronica volunteers at her church and daughter's school and resides in West Palm Beach with her college sweetheart, Pablo, also an FAU alumnus, and their daughter Adriana.


Tyrone has flown the furthest to reside in Florida, as he was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Tyrone immigrated to the United States in 1999 and was homeschooled in Broward County. He attended Florida Atlantic University, where he joined Sigma Phi Epsilon during his third year and discovered he had a passion for business and accounting. He graduated from the College of Business in 2007 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.

Tyrone currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is the owner of Starlight Marine and co-owner/founder of Owlsgear.com. In 2010, Tyrone joined the Executive MBA program at FAU and earned his MBA in 2013. He and four classmates represented FAU in the State Finals of the 2013 CFA Investment Research Challenge, where they placed second.


Born in Cagua, Venezuela, José has lived in Palm Beach County since 1992. He attended Pope John Paul II High School and graduated in 2001 before enrolling at Florida Atlantic University. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, as well as a Master’s degree in Criminology. Herrera’s first job at FAU was as a program assistant for the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement and Service. The Center’s mission is to foster civic awareness and provide service opportunities for faculty, staff, and students. He established partnerships with community organizations in Palm Beach and Broward counties, promoted the center with a new marketing plan for programming, and created new programs that raised awareness of civic engagement issues. As a liaison between the athletic department and Student Affairs at FAU, Herrera eventually became a mentor and tutor to student athletes. The University Advancement and Alumni Affairs at FAU hired him as an event coordinator in December 2008, where he planned original fundraising events and strengthened relationships with alumni and donors. In October 2010, José became the Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton.


Born in Tavernier, Florida, Chris grew up on the water, fishing for the next big dolphin and spending time with family and friends on the sandbar. The ocean always was the common denominator for developing relationships. After graduation from Coral Shores High School, he attended the University of Central Florida before realizing that he was an FAU owl at heart. While at Florida Atlantic, Chris was President of Alpha Tau Omega and Circle K Club. He also held the position of Chief of Staff for Student Government. In his final year at FAU, Chris was awarded the Greek Life Unsung Hero Award for his hard work and dedication to FAU Greek Life.

Chris now resides in Tavenier and is the owner of CBT Construction. He also co-founded Gotta Luv It Outdoors and Owlsgear.com. He has maintained his civic responsibilities by serving as a member to the Upper Keys Rotary Club and being named “Rotary Member of the Year” in 2011. Chris recently rung in the New Year by marrying his college sweetheart, Whitney.


Kristy grew up in Vero Beach and relocated to Boca Raton to attend Florida Atlantic University, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Education in 2007. During her time at FAU, Kristy was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority and served as New Member Orientation Chair. She enjoys volunteering and fundraising, and has dedicated her time to Dance Marathon, Relay for Life, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, and more.

Kristy currently works as an event specialist for a large non-profit organization which helps vulnerable populations in South Florida.


Abe grew up in Miami and relocated to Boca Raton to attend Florida Atlantic University, where she earned he Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration. During his time at FAU, Abe was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity in addition to serving as Student Body President. 

Abe is currently works as Manager of Corporation Relations for GEO Group based out of Boca Raton, FL.


Born and raised in the great city of Tampa, Phil attended Tampa Jesuit High School. He attended Florida Atlantic University from 2001-2006, majoring in Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship. Phil is a brother of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, and was an active participant on the Inter-Fraternity Council Board. He was also involved in campus life as a Resident Assistant from 2002-2005.

Phil currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is the Marketing/Brand Director for Barrel of Monks Brewing, in Boca Raton. His love and knowledge for craft beer, and the industry is shown through his certification as a Certified Cicerone®.
